Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola premieres this week (Asa!), so this is my last chance to saddle in some MBM news before my movie write up. The main cast of the film have done more than their fair share of promotions beginning in the last quarter of 2012 and now they’re in the last stretch.
On the 7th the first screening of the film was held, where the audience was privy to a few deleted scenes, as well as an Q&A session directly following the film. This event is nearing the end of the line for all things concerning MBM with just a couple days until its premiere on Friday. For months, Imran and Anushka have been everywhere promoting Bhardwaj’s quirky film with the quirky title, from the regular music launches and interviews to car pasting promotions. Thankfully, in attendance was also prolific Pankaj Kapur, the third stem of the story.
Can’t help but wish I was there as well to get a sneak peek and an ear full from the cast and director to fill my piggy bank of knowledge concerning filmmaking, but alas, I’ll have to wait. My favorite Bollys are usually films that focus on a core group of individuals with a life story to tell, then add the small village atmosphere and I’m a goner!
Therefore, I’m terribly anxious for this film, not only due to my great respect for Bhardwaj’s work but because the cast is equally inspiring and no matter how you cut it, them apples are pretty rare.
