And as promised just an hour ago, Dharma Productions dropped a full one minute and a half teaser of Karan Johar‘s latest directorial project Ae Dil Hai Mushkil [literal trans. Oh the Heart is Difficult].

I personally found this teaser to do exactly what it was created to do— Make me want more. It certainly feels like an emotional journey and the teaser teases the title quite well. For the phrase can deviate into several concepts within the imagination but this does not seem to be use its words in jest, lazily or lightly.
At the very end, Aayan says, “There is nothing like the power of unrequited love,” and goes on to say that with such love, it isn’t shared but experienced solely. Completely alone. So much can be said about that one line but I look forward to Aayan journeying to this realization. For at times, there are sentiments we understand and recognize immediately and intuitively but take us much longer to reconcile, accept and embrace. And unrequited love can certainly damage great potential if not dealt with properly.
From what we see, he appears to have intense relationships with both women, not to mention the other entanglements our ladies find themselves [Oh hello there, Mr. Fawad Khan!] One thing I found quite interesting about the connections within this snippet is while there are misty eyes and companionship laughter or heady and volatile moments, I didn’t spy much traditional filmy romance.
After seeing this, I can say I’ll be keeping tabs on this one. Until Diwali, that is.
