Even More Hasee Toh Phasee

htpposter

When the tracks for the Dharma-Phantom co-production Hasee Toh Phasee began to drop over a month ago, I had a feeling it’d be the final video release that would win me over.

Then “Manchala” officially hit the net on Tuesday and well as always, I was glad I gave it a little time.

***And did I mention how much I adore that official poster?!

Song : “Manchala”
Music : Shekhar Ravjiani, Vishal Dadlani
Lyrics : Amitabh Bhattacharya, Rakesh Kumar (Kumaar)
Singers : Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan

I’d love to say that the Vishal-Shenkar duo strike again, but Hindi film tracks are a coin toss at best, for more often than not tracks work better in the context of the film. For a song that isn’t memorable on its own, may become unforgettable once you’ve seen the film.

Which is why I equally love and loathe the pre-film release music launch. But thankfully, “Manchala” and its accompanying video fit. The soulful longing shown in Malhotra’s eyes is reflected in Shafqat’s vocal delivery. And I honestly can’t get enough of either. I think I’ve seen the video more times to count at this point—Sid has pushed me into the deep end of his warm umber pools.

Song : “Ishq Bulaava”
Music : Shekhar Ravjiani, Vishal Dadlani
Lyrics : Rakesh Kumar (Kumaar)
Singers : Shipra Goyal, Sanam Puri

Actually now with the release of  “Manchala, I find it a great compliment to Ishq Bulaava,” which with the addition of “Zehnaseeb,” HTP‘s OST is divided evenly between dance and slow tunes. With two character descriptor songs, “Drama Queen,” and “Shake It Like Shammi,” then simply titled “Punjabi Wedding Song” completing the disk.
