It’s no secret that I am an unadulterated Imran Khan fan. There’s something wholesome but naughty about his onscreen persona, while off-screen he’s this upright, strong-willed individual that anyone would love to have as a friend. And though it may be appropriate to mark this year as “his” year, with two hits in two distinctly different films (Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara!), both showcasing his growth as an actor, I’d venture to say his performances last year carved a niche wide enough for him to settle in and stride in 2013.
It was also 2012 that Dharma Productions first paired Khan with Kareena Kapoor-Khan in the Valentine’s Day release Ek Main Aur Ek Tu. That film was a success mainly for the actor’s chemistry which transcended on and off-screen. Therefore, when the opportunity arose for them to try their hand at another pairing they both jumped at the chance.
This film, is also a romantic comedy, however, there’s not much else to tell on the plot front at the moment. But with a different director (Punit Malhotra), and preferably a different tone and resolution, I pray, this story wins me over in a way their first joint venture failed massively to do, for Ek Main really wasn’t my taste at all (should I do a U&B on it?). With all that said, I can’t deny, the two are absolutely winning together, though I’m beginning to believe it’s just their gift to be able to garner a spark with all their co-stars. And honestly, it’s always our boon (as the audience) to get to see those couples sparkle and sizzle, as they do what they do best, together.
Filming commenced in mid-February and almost immediately the film’s Twitter account was cascaded with visuals of progress with the two stars and their director. But two days ago, the account posted an adorable photo with Khan and Kapoor-Khan announcing the drop of the film’s first teaser to be released September 10 @ noon.
We have two months before the premiere, therefore it’s great to see that everything is on schedule and will release just in time for a cute and warm Thanksgiving date. Gori Tere Pyar Mein is slated for theaters November 22.
