Ok, so I know I’m not the only one counting the days till the the premiere of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of Rings prequel The Hobbit. I can’t be! There has been gossip and anticipation for this film for over a year now and last month, the premiere sweep began. Thursday, Ziegfeld Theatre hosted the third premiere of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The film isn’t set to release for us regular folks until this Friday, December 14 but the cast and producers graced the States with an opening this past week with a few choice attendees.
Not much happened, of course, besides the viewing and stars from the previous films showing support with red carpet arrivals, but like me, I hope this gets your juices churning for the weekend! The film genre is fantasy, the journey being that of the dwarf and elf kind, therefore, this is a chance to see these talented actors out of characters and without the CG magic, celebrating what could be the most talked about Hollywood film in the coming year.
The Hobbit star, Martin Freeman with partner Amanda Abbington
Most famous dwarf leader, Thorin, Richard Armitage
Ian McKellen reprises his role as Gandalf the Grey
One of my forever favorites, James Nesbit gets in on the dwarf action as Bofur.
Andy Serkis standing in front of his Lord of the Rings image as “ring obsessed” Gollum
Elijah Wood actor in Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy as Frodo Baggins.
Here are one-fourth of our lovable warrior dwarves, Aidan Turner, Adam Brown and Dean O’Gorman
Sir Patrick Stewart
Gary Barber(Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) and Howard Stringer (Sony Corp.)
Radiant Liv Tyler won’t appear in this film but made a huge impression as Viggo Mortensen‘s love interest in Lord of the Rings.
